G-HAMP Apparel news update: 5/31/2008

The G-HAMP Apparel team and friends of the G-HAMP Apparel team attended the premiere of the documentary, "Looking For Peace-One Block At A Time" by the people of Hyde Square Task Force. The film was exellent, powerful, thought-provoking, and it showed a perspective from people in the Boston communities all over, that experience heavy violence or not, that they are willing and able to prevent violence in their communities because it affects all of us. It showed that the Boston urban communities don't allow it and it is totally unacceptable in the urban communities. It reminded me that no matter how much violence may occur in a single community, the majority of them are still seeking and fighting for peace within their community and thats what its all about. If you would like to find out more details on the film and want to know where and when the next showing is, than go to www.hydesquare.org.

The G-HAMP Apparel team is cooking up something lovely for this summer with fashion shows, retail merchants, and parties...oh yeah, its on Ladies and Gents. So stay tuned and start saving dates on your summer calendar because G-HAMP Apparel is planning events for all and we want you all to attend. I'll keep you posted in the near future so....stay tuned.

In all, I hope everybody has a happy Friday. Enjoy, live life to the fullest, and much success to you all

Looking for peace, on the Streets of Boston

A friend of mine sent me this the other day.
For the past few months, my beloved H-CAP (Health Careers Ambassadors Program) youth worked with an amazing filmmaker by the name of Alex Gomez on a documentary by the name of "Looking for Peace, One Block at a Time". It is their way of paying tribute to hundreds of young lives lost to violence, as well as a healing process for them individually. In addition, they address this violence as a public health concern.
The Hyde Square Task Force would like to invite you to the premiere of the documentary on May 29th, 2008, from 6 to 8 PM at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. You will have a chance to meet the young film makers, as well as to come together with others as a way to find a peaceful solution to violence.
Please come support the youth of the Hyde Square Task Force. Thank you!
At G-Hamp are trying to do our part to bring a positive message to the people of Boston. These types of programs are very important to us and we support them 100%. If you are free May 29th please consider going and help us take back the streets of Boston!

Weekend Update

Hey what's going on people I just wanted to give you an update on what went down with G.Hamp this past weekend.

We went out to Raynham to there flea market, Raynham Flea. What an experience it was. I know a lot of people hear the word flea market and think cheap products, but you're far from the truth. There were a lot of great business and selling great products at a very reasonable prices. But anyways back to G.Hamp.

We sold a fair amount of shirts. Considering it was raining and the traffic was slow (thats what the other people were saying). The day started off pretty crazy. So got there and got our space and noticed we had no tables or chairs. All we had was three hangers and boxes. We asked our "neighbor" and she said we needed our own. WOOOOOW this wasn't looking good too early in the game. So we did what we knew how to do best grind. George got the markers and posted "G.Hamp Apparel shirts $10" with his best chicken scratch. Than we found two more hangers in his trunk, so we posted up two more shirts. We than took the three boxes we had and stacked them on each and put a shirt on that. Two other vendors gave us chairs to sit on and thats our set up. AND WE STILL SOLD SHIRTS, with almost nothing to attract people but our fly G.Hamp shirts

It was a great and successful day. Also it was a learning experience and we will be back next week. And catch us there. We will be at RAYNHAM FLEA from 9-5 THIS SUNDAY. Come support us.

Also I'd like to give a shout out to the other vendors for showing us love and teaching us the traits of the game. Also to Diane for really listening to our story and sharing with us her experience it was really great speaking to you and hearing your in site. And check out a new hair salon in Brockton on Crestant St. (correct my spelling if needed) good peoples...

G.Hamp signing out and till next time. Stay positive and keep coming
